Deere and Company (John Deere) Sucks
My mother and her husband were lawnmower shopping. They could have bought a $2,000 lawn mower. But, they decided to spend $5,000 on a John Deere, because they thought Deere and Company had high quality products that wouldn't have problems down the road. They already owned a John Deere gator, chain saw, and a few other John Deere products.
They have kept up the mower very well. Yet, the motor stopped working on it. They went through *** trying to get any type of resolution. John Deere said to call the motor company. My mother did not buy the motor. John Deere bought the motor, so why should she have to contact the motor company? In the end, she had to spend over $600 for a new motor. The motor company finally agreed to chip in $200.
Either John Deere or the motor company (can't remember which) tried accusing them of cloging a part of the motor and that the part should be cleaned out every so often. The repair said that part was clean. He also said the consumer cannot get to that part to clean it anyway.
John Deere owes them for the additional $400, but they won't pay up.
After all the weeks of hassle, I definitely recommend staying away from John Deere products.
Monetary Loss: $650.

I WILL NEVER OWN A JOHN DEERE PIECE OF *** EVER AGAIN
bought d140 from lowes. had trouble with the deck from day one.
stopped at lowes to ask them if there were any issues with deck. no problems they said. have 30 hours on mower took to dealer deck had issues which i complaned about from day one. they fixed the skid plate and something else but cant remember what and said the blades were bent and not under warrenty and would cost me 50 bucks.
seem to me if deck was bad from get go then it probably caused the blades to get bent. wont buy a other deere.
nothing runs like a deere. i would hope not what a hunk of junk.
"the motor stopped working" really sounds like this guy a great mechanic. don't complain about having to pay full price if you don't fix it yourself.
I have a john deere 400 and a stx 38. both required minor repairs.
if a motor "stops working" you just fix it. You can go on google or youtube to find the answer most of the time anyways.
Remember that most lawn mowers now come from the same Chinese sweatshop prison factories. All of the big names either merged or were sold to the Chicoms.
This is why all of the stuff seems to be made from old pop bottles and tin cans. JD riding mowers have a weird lever rod in the back that must be pushed in to run or else the transmission fails...which it did. The mower deck wore out two spindle shafts and started falling apart.
You can't buy anything good anymore. Going to refurbish the mid-80's Wheelhorse.
I will never buy another have a 145 tractor and the spindles started making noise with one having a lot of movement when I went to the dealer but the parts, they said the spindles changed so I bought the nuts and washers for the blades also, easy job until the nut didn't go more than 5 threads, called they said that's how they are, force them, they are locking nuts, so got a breaker bar and got it only snug, no way to get it tighter, so figured take it off and see if something wrong - it stripped the shaft on the way off, ive owned lots of huskies, never a problem, deere stearing suck and wears out tire repeatedly flat, paint flakes off in large sections and the repair parts don't fit, this is from a mechanic who garage kept this pos.
same here a POS it needs an iron lung to stay alive.
